About Khan Lee

Khan Lee was born in Seoul, Korea. He studied architecture at Hong-Ik University, before immigrating to Canada to study fine art at Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design. He works in performance, media, sculpture and drawing. His practice involves experimentation with form and process in order to express inherent relationships between material and immaterial content. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Lee lives and works in Vancouver, BC.

Red, Green and Blue

2016

Red, Green and Blue is a sculptural installation that uses filtered light to animate nature. Drawing on broad references of horizon lines and landscape art, Lee enables passers-by to visualize the wind.

108 Steps

2018

108 Steps is a public sculpture in the form of a freestanding ladder with 108 rungs. The ladder is one of the oldest and simplest utilities still used. The number 108 has significance for a variety of cultures, and is considered sacred within many Dharmic faiths.

As a part of Totori Gye-Ju-Sai. This installation symbolically addresses issues of Canadian Golden Rods in Japan, which is currently #1 invasive species of Japan.
